Issue Summary

  • Agents hang mid-task or take 10+ minutes for simple actions.
  • Frequent crashes, requiring a restart.
  • Small tasks (e.g., updating CSS) are unreasonably slow.

Expected Behavior

  • Agents should respond quickly and not freeze or crash.

I see the same. waiting 2-5 minutes to complete the task and many times ends with crash

Yes they release new version without testing.
Its gets worse every release.

yes same here. it is unusable. looking at cursor alternatives now.

There are no better alternatives. I appreciate the dev team at Cursor and the value they provide.

Cursor (Included with your subscription)

  • Codebase indexing with semantic search, Grep, Fuzzy, etc
  • Their own LLM models to apply edits and perform other chores
  • Consistent flat API costs for the top coding LLM (Claude)

Those features alone are worth the price.

If you use any other IDE or VSCode extension, you’re going to have to be much more careful with your requests and monitor your context window closely or you’re going to be spending some money. I’ve spent $20 in a couple hours using ‘free’ vscode extensions that don’t have the optimized workflow that Cursor does using Claude.

You are upset because Anthropic and Anysphere are overwhelmed by the demand because they provide the best solution for the best value.

Have any of you even tried Gemini or Deepseek with Cursor? I’d suggest you give those a try when the demand for Claude is overwhelming.

Note: Earlier I was using Claude desktop and I couldn’t get a response, it kept failing and asked me to try again later. Meanwhile, the Cursor API calls to Claude were slower but still functional. There were no problems within the IDE and not a single crash today.

Cursor is 100% unusable for past 3 days. Now @ version 0.46.8 (Silicon Mac). Why break something that was working properly earlier? Claude is worse now. Even GPT-40 hallucinates and wanders in cursor. Moving to copilot for some days till you fix. will keep checking the forum.

2/3 days time, more than 100 credits resulted in no productivity, only made me tired.

Same here. It’s not usable at all. Constant crashes. Even the editor is lagging as I type.

I tried uninstalling and installing, removing vs code etc. No luck

That’s impossible to work with Cursor! The latest updates keep getting worse and worse. Cursor AI is literally crashing every minute.

I’m running Version: 0.46.8 (Universal) and doesn’t last 5 minutes before crashes on code 5 error.
