Hello, everyone. I am experiencing the following issue – I have installed the Cursor but didn’t do it appropriately. Now I would like to totally deinstall it and then reinstall (totally from the scratch with the installation options as follows “”, “” – Screenshot attached).
Unfortunately, I am not able to do it now because every time after I start reinstallation it doesn’t reflect above-mentioned installation options (it just opens Cursor editor).
I have tried to deinstall Cursor app several time (with deletion of all Cursor-related files and folders) not I haven’t succeeded and the issue persists
Could you please help me to remedy my issue?
I will be very grateful to you because Cursor is a critical component of my Workspace, and that’s why I have to install it correctly.
Thank you in advance.
Hey,
If you are trying to install the terminal shortcuts, you can do some with an existing install!
Using the command palette, you can run either of the following Install commands, to install either the cursor
command or the code
command:
You can open the command palette with CMD/CTRL + Shift + P, and search for either command.

Hello, dear Danperks. Thank you for useful advice! I have followed it and eventually installed both commands via command palette! Could you please just explain to me their purpose? Because I am very brand new for Cursor (as AI copilot app), I just started exploring this app and I really want to master it successfully.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
Sure!
These commands allow you to launch Cursor from the terminal (or on Windows, this is known as command prompt).
This is helpful when using the terminal, as if you are moving some files or doing something in a folder on your machine, using the terminal, you can simply type cursor .
and it will open Cursor to that folder, meaning you can get started straight away!
You can try this, by opening the terminal, moving to a folder using the cd
command, then typing cursor .
The reason we have two commands, one being cursor
and one being code
is the later is used by 3rd party apps, so makes it easier for those apps to work with Cursor.
