Cursor IDE terminal approval requests: show which directory and which permissions

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

It feels unsafe to approve these sometime when I can’t see what directory the command will run in. It would be nice even if I have to hover on something to see. I’d also like to see which permissions the tool is requesting. “out of sandbox” vs “full network permission” etc.

Hey @Jack_Williams1! I agree it would be good to have more information before approving commands (especially working directory, which is included in every Shell tool call, just not exposed to the user). I’ve passed the feedback along to the team!

Marked it as closed since we can now see the directory in the latest Cursor! Sweet! Seeing exactly what permissions could be cool, but it’s really only relevant to me because there’s been instances where I swear the model wasn’t requesting the right/full permissions for certain commands. In general it’s not that relevant. Before you click approve you are already reviewing it fully, so whether it is requesting just partial (like network only) or full permissions to run outside sandbox… It probably doesn’t make much difference.

Thanks!
