I am not a noob. I have 25 years of experience coding and I have used Cursor very extensively on over 50 projects. I can safely said it is a total disaster. Rogue edit after rogue edit. Constant destruction of critical files even after being told not to edit them under any circumstances. Consistently incomplete work, constant wrong information, no memory to speak of, no undo, constant use of cached and irrelevant files, constant failures to even look at actual files before doing work. I cannot believe this is being offered as a paid product. It is disgraceful. We should all be getting money from Cursor to test this Beta product.

When it should start off with: “I have 12 mins of experience using AI tools”
They do realize AI tools are new, so having experience with older methods could be considered a hindrance if they are stuck in their ways. Old dog new tricks kind of a thing.

From my own experience, building B2B & B2C solutions for over 25 years: It takes time getting used to coding with AI. However there is nothing wrong with AI assisted coding at this time if you are a developer. It can save you a ton of time.
@user477 could you share more what the issues are and how you are using Cursor?
From what you describe it sounds like an issue on how to code with AI and not necessarily Cursor.

i think ive fiured out a better way to work in cursor , and have agents work together , use the background agents to work on spaciffic things have it make a prompt to tell the other agent how to do it . ive also been having it send that info to folders so i can get the loacl agent to read and exocute the local agint then just works on the ui more and doesnt get stuck in circles.

Coming from Copilot, I absolutely love Cursor. I believe most coding problems are model based rather than Cursor. Cursor is just rather well working interface to talk with models and avoid manually forwarding the context or applying changes. But anything really is better than Copilot’s way of corrupting files when they get too big (as result of ai). Cursor also seems to handle better different new models than Copilot did, for example syntax coloring the responses.
I have not tried Claude Code, but I believe it is nice to have other models available too, so single model platform doesn’t really compare well. OpenAI codex when I tried was just github tool with no use for me whatsoever. Windsurf I don’t remember even trying, but maybe there is reason why it is not mentioned so often with publish events as Cursor does. Perhaps there are others too worth considering, but I wouldn’t know.

That’s TRUE! After recent updates it even forgets to make changes!
I think it’s even better to install an older version if prompts are stored in IDE.

Cursor has its issues. I’ve been programming for over 30 years, been in the industry around 27 or so, and Cursor needs STABILITY. However, the issues with cursor, are not really with the code it generates, but with the reliability and stability of the features it contains: connectivity issues, broken terminal connections, hangs, crashes, etc.
In your case, my question is this? HOW ARE YOUR RULES?! Rules, rule. I suspect you don’t have good enough rules to govern the agent+llm, or INFORM them of your preferences.

The agent, without proper guardrails, the llm, without proper instruction, will generally do whatever they want! YOU must be the one to control the situation. Rules, do that. Don’t skimp on your rules.

I haven’t found any, they can do the context management better than what is right now. It’s been an hours trying to figure out how to send message without context. I ended up creating new project.
Without context? I normally just open normal chatgpt when I want to talk like that 
lol, you sure are using the wrong model and does not have a clue of what you are doing. cursor is extremely useful and helps you a lot of time, but you can’t expect it to do everything 100% like an expert for you. some models are really dumb and you can’t rely everything on AI. combine your existing knowledge with ai and you indeed boost your productivity to the maximum. saying that cursor is broken is just a very wrong thing to say

If you keep squeezing the turnip that is Cursor it will bleed. That much squeezing should not be necessary for a product that is expensive and not billed as being in Beta. And the turnip shouldn’t take up arms and assualt your loved ones in the process.
