The chat editor experiences multiple intermittent issues that significantly impact usability:
Cursor position desynchronization - text insertion occurs at wrong location

Steps to Reproduce

Type: “hello. my name is cursor.”
Position cursor after “hello.” (between “hello.” and “my”)
Press Shift+Enter or paste content

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. I can’t reproduce this issue. Could you try updating to the latest version of Cursor and let me know if the issue persists?

It has same Issue.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t reproduce this. Could you try reinstalling Cursor? It looks like a local issue.

Yes, your chats are stored here, and you can restore them after reinstalling:

Windows: %APPDATA%\Cursor\User\workspaceStorage
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Cursor/User/workspaceStorage
Linux: ~/.config/Cursor/User/workspaceStorage

You can also export your chat history using this extension:

I have one follow-up question regarding other user data: How about the cursor settings?

Specifically, are there any steps I can take to ensure that data such as my saved ‘memories’ (or other custom configurations) are also preserved or backed up before I perform the reinstallation?

Yes, you can try exporting your profile and then importing it after a clean install. You can also back up the folders that contain Cursor’s data, just in case something goes wrong. As for memories and user rules, they’re stored in the cloud and not locally.
