Cursor using .mdc rules files excluded in .cursorignore and project workspace

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Describe the Bug

We have a bunch of symlinks to various source files in a directory named .qpkg/. This directory is specifically exclude in both .cursorignore and the workspace files.exclude. It’s still showing up in the rules list in the GUI.

Steps to Reproduce

Put an .mdc file somewhere that’s excluded. Observe that it’s picked up by the rules GUI.

Expected Behavior

It should not be picked up by the rules GUI.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

hi @sthaber1 Could you post a Request ID with privacy disabled so we can look into the details? Cursor – Getting a Request ID

Thanks for reopening. Unfortunately due to organizational restrictions I can’t turn off privacy mode and provide a request ID.

SAME issue here. Please let me know what you need to help debug this.
