I’ve been using Cursor for some time, and while it initially seemed promising, I’ve found that its subscription model is becoming less effective over time. The 500 fast requests per month are simply too restrictive; especially when working on multiple projects or when the model requires frequent corrections. I often exhaust these requests well before the month is up, forcing me to rely on “slow” requests.
At first, slow requests were manageable, but as Cursor’s popularity has grown, so has the slow request queue. This trend is likely to continue, and as it does, the experience degrades further. Instead of encouraging more usage or adding value, this system actually discourages me from using Cursor. I find myself switching to other editors and code-assist tools without similar delays.
I initially canceled my GitHub Copilot subscription to use Cursor, but the increasingly long wait times, especially during peak hours, have diminished the productivity gains I first appreciated. As it stands, Cursor’s model ultimately feels like a temporary boost that quickly loses its appeal. Without changes to address these growing queues and limitations, Cursor risks turning away users who are looking for consistent, dependable support; something I’m now reconsidering with Copilot.
Yes, the last few days have been savage, particularly early in the day. Requests have been much slower than before; unacceptably slow, I would say. And, yes, the global rate limit messages on every third query.
Later in the day, I hit a stretch where replies became near-instantaneous.
Unfortunately there are so many moving parts behind the scenes that I have no idea what is a Cursor problem and what is a Claude problem.
same also here. cursor queue became so long . am not sure should i add my api key or just add more 500 request for 20$ which both solutions seems too much cost
Though I understand why they paywall & middle man the logic that makes it return valid actions to run, putting it in the app itself and letting us use our own keys, I’d pay $20 still.
Like make it about the software, not the SAAS, I’ll pay just the same, actually I’d pay more for privacy of not sending everything to cursor servers, within reason.
Currently at 2500 Fast Requests because of this. Is it true that the Business subscription of $40 has much lower waiting times let’s say ~5s waiting? For me that would be better than to spend 2.5 as much
we’re looking into how we can scale this over time as our user base grow, but i totally hear your frustration. how many fast requests per month do you currently use?
