In Cursor my custom model usage kept rising all month even when I disabled all models except for Grok 4.6 and Composer 2. Why is that?
Hey @snowmead, thanks for the report! What you’re seeing is expected, though it can be surprising.
Your plan has two included usage pools: Cursor Models (Auto, Cursor Grok, and Composer) and Other Models. Your Grok 4.6 and Composer sessions in the editor are correctly drawing from Cursor Models.
The Other Models pool is increasing mostly from Grok Bot, Bugbot code reviews, and agent sessions configured to use GPT-5.3 Codex. Grok Bot usage is separate from Cursor Grok usage in the editor.
Disabling models under Settings > Models only changes the editor’s model picker. It doesn’t affect Grok Bot, Bugbot, or agents and automations configured with a specific model.
You can see the per-model breakdown on your Usage page.
I understand, thank you for clarifying.
I was under the impression that disabling the models would disable them globally. I think it would be nice to have more information for us to understand how usage works in more detail. It is very hard to control our usage without this knowledge.
I think a lot of people would assume that Bugbot code reviews would fall under the Cursor Models usage.
