Cycle Thinking Feauture Gone?

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I used to see the Cycle Thinking feauture in the model dropdown, marked by an edit button, where you can enable/disable thinking or modify between low, medium, high, and max. However, now it is gone, it used to be there in the model dropdown itself (GUI and cmd+shift+/).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Cursor
  2. Go to Model Dropdown
  3. Try to find it (you will not)

Expected Behavior

You should be able to cycle thinkking through an edit button and icon when a certain model is hovered in the model dropdown. I don’t know if this was removed in 3.0, but it was really useful, or if it just stopped working (bug.) PLEASE FIX IT OR BRING IT BACK. PLEASE :folded_hands:

For AI issues: which model did you use?

All, specifically Sonnet 4.6

Additional Information

Also, Sonnet 4.6 High and Max are not even avalible. I thought you might have replaced it back to manually selecting every reasoning level of the model in settings, but then Sonnet 4.6 only the medium variant was avalible, what happened to low, high, and max. This is very dissatisfying as I used to use Sonnet 4.6 High primarily.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

The cycle thinking feature has disappeared from me, leading to the model disappearance. The key is the feauture here.

Hey, thanks for the report.

The Low/Medium/High toggle didn’t go away as a feature. It was reworked into a new parameterized model picker. The Edit button for the thinking level shows up when you hover over the name of a model that supports reasoning Sonnet 4.6, Opus 4.6, etc. The rollout is gradual, so it might not have reached your account yet. That’s expected in the current version, not a bug.

For Sonnet 4.6 High/Max, those aren’t removed. There just aren’t separate dropdown items for each level anymore. Once the Edit button is available, you’ll be able to set the level there.

For now, you can use the MAX Mode toggle at the top. I’ll post here if there are updates on the rollout.
