Design mode in classic (not agent) view

Is there an architectural or product reason why Browser behaves differently in Agent and Editor views?

In the Editor view, the Browser includes the Select Element tool, while in the Agent view it provides Design Mode instead.

In general, I prefer working in the Editor view, and the Select Element tool is sufficient for most of my workflow. However, there are times when I’d like to use Design Mode without switching away from the Editor view.

Is there an architectural or product reason for this distinction? Why aren’t both tools available in the Editor view?

Also, is the Editor view considered a legacy interface that won’t receive new Browser features going forward, or is there another reason for the feature difference?

Hey, thanks for the question.

Right now, Design Mode lives in the Browser inside the Agents Window. That’s a newer surface, and new Browser features ship there first. In the Editor view, you currently have Select Element, but Design Mode hasn’t been added there yet.

I can’t comment on the internal architecture reasons or any plans for feature parity between the views. What I can say is that if you need Design Mode right now, it’s available via Agents Window > Browser.

Your request to have Design Mode, or both tools, available in the Editor view makes total sense. It’d be best to post it as a separate thread in Feature Requests and describe your workflow, like you work in Editor view but sometimes need Design Mode without switching. That way the product team will see it, and other users can upvote.

If something is technically broken, not just missing, let me know and we can take a closer look.
