Do I need a subscription to try API?

If I want to try Deepseek API in Cursor, will I have to pay for Cursor or can I just use the free version of Cursor ?

If you have never used Cursor before, you should be eligible for the Pro trial, which gives you 2 weeks of the Pro plan to test out DeepSeek, which is now an included “premium” model.

If you have already had a free trial of Pro, you may still have 50 slow requests available in our free tier, which should also allow you to use DeepSeek.

If neither of the above apply, you will either have to purchase a Pro plan with us, or use an API key, which you would have to pay money to DeepSeek to use instead.

I have used the free trail now. But just wonder if I should pay for a Cursor subscription and a DeepSeek API subscription, if I want to try there API with Cursor.

Ah, I understand. DeepSeek (v3 and R1) are both included in our Pro subscription, so no need to setup an API key separately!
