On Ubuntu 24.04 with Cursor 3.10.20, I couldn’t attach files to Agent chat in Editor view. Drag-and-drop from Nautilus, drag from the Explorer sidebar, and the attach (+) button all failed silently — no attachment chip, no error.

Text input worked fine. Same project, same machine, same layout.

I downgraded to 3.10.11 and everything works again immediately. Drag-drop, attach button, files show up in chat. No other changes on my end.

Looks like a regression between 3.10.11 and 3.10.20 on Linux.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Cursor 3.10.20 on Ubuntu 24.04 (.deb from the official apt repo)
  2. Open Editor view (not Agents Window)
  3. Open Agent chat in the sidebar
  4. Try attaching a file:
    • Drag from Nautilus into the chat input
    • Drag from Explorer into the chat input
    • Click the + attach button and pick a file
  5. Nothing happens

Downgrade to 3.10.11 and repeat — attachments work.

Expected Behavior

Dropped or selected files appear as attachments in the chat input and are sent to the agent.

Hey, thanks for the detailed report. The clean A/B test with a rollback to 3.10.11 really helps.

A couple questions to narrow it down:

  • On 3.10.20, does attach work in the Agents Window (not the Editor view)? This will help confirm if it’s an editor-view composer issue or something broader.
  • If you can, please share a short screen recording of trying drag-and-drop and clicking + on 3.10.20. It’s easier to understand with visuals.

For now, you can stick with the workaround. Add files via @ mention in chat, or use the Agents Window. Attach should work there.

I’ve reported this internally. I’ll reply in the thread once there’s an update.

reinstalled via apt to recreate and record a video…and of course now everything works fine. that being said, not 100% if this is the same exact version. who knows. i blame neutrinos.
