I’m a developer in Cursor AND a teacher at the local campus in Cursor.
Me, and many students, get stuck in “Ask mode”. They simply forget that they switched from Agent to Ask and there’s no great intuitive way to tell that you’re in that mode. You should enhance UX when using Ask. Some other bg color, maybe a small label on every answer “Ask mode only” or something similar.
I LOVE ask mode for discussions but it’s annoying when forgotten turned on and I want to start implement.
Especially new users to Cursor have issues with this in my experience.
I think is very annoying that the “default” is agent. We don’t want that, we like to ask, and get complete response. After that evaluation we want the control to add or remove code on our own. Don’t develop agents, develop a better chat. Ai is a tool, not an employee.
