Feedback on Recent Change to Adding Context in Chat

I’m finding the new behavior of the “Add to Chat” feature to be less intuitive. Previously, clicking “Add to Chat” added the selected code to the last activated chat input. This was great. Well-thought-out and intuitive features like this are a big reason I love Cursor.

However, it now always opens a new chat, which complicates adding context to an ongoing conversation. Instead of quickly using Ctrl + A and Ctrl + L, I now have to snipe the plus button and search through files, then select one. Additionally, it’s unclear how to add specific code snippets to the current chat, something that was previously straightforward with text selection and Ctrl + L.

I hope this behavior can be reconsidered or reverted to restore the usability and efficiency of the original approach.

Thanks for your feedback! We understand that changes to the “Add to Chat” feature might be inconvenient. Previously, adding code to the current chat was quite intuitive, and we truly appreciate your attention to detail.

You can press Ctrl + Shift + L to insert code into the current chat, which could help resolve your issue.
