Forced Updates for Security Vulnerabilities

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

In corporate environments, security is a critical concern, and using outdated software like older versions of Cursor IDE poses a significant risk. Versions with known vulnerabilities can expose a company to attacks and compromise system integrity. Currently, there’s no way to force developers to update, which allows them to continue using insecure versions and leaves the organization vulnerable.

To solve this, we propose a security mechanism that forces Cursor IDE to update. This feature would block the use of any version flagged as insecure or outdated. When a user tries to launch the program, they would be prevented from proceeding and receive a notification to update to the latest version, ensuring that everyone on the team is using a secure and patched build.
