Hey, older versions of Cursor (including 1.7 and earlier) no longer support Agent due to critical security updates and architectural changes. This is a planned end of support.
On 2.x stability: the latest version 2.3.23 is much more stable than early 2.x releases. Most bugs from early versions are fixed, and several users confirm it works without issues.
I’d recommend updating to 2.3.23 from Download · Cursor - core functionality works reliably.

I knew they would eventually change the underlying architecture that disables 1.7 - not looking forward to endless untested vibe coded changes by inexperienced software developers (Cursor team that is you !) at all. Messy
