…go on. I’m not familiar with it.
There is no such thing as a No Code developer. I’d you don’t understand what the AI is doing don’t bother. You will end up in an endless loop. Several times I will ask it to help me with something just to remove code I didn’t ask it to touch. I will say something like “why did you remove this” or “would it not be easier to just do this one like of code” and the answer is always yes you are correct and than does it correctly. So the simple thing is that you don’t understand the code it writes and why you should not waist your time. You will end up with bugs in the code and issues that you can never fix. I asked it to update from laravel 8 to 12 and it did a half way good job. It took more to solve the issues it created than what it was meant to do. However when I tracked back the issues it was able to fix them. So again learn the language you are trying to write in at minimum to understand what it is doing.
So what you are basically saying is these AI coders are for Coders only. This doesn’t make much sense, but I get your thought process, not sure its helpful though.
The best part is it’s going to cost to fix the random code changes it made too!
About to hit your limit? Here let me give you more work to do to put you over to pay extra. Lmao ><
This is absolutely true and it makes perfect sense. You can think of an AI as a research assistant whose work you need to check.
Absolutely. Cursor is like an idiot savant. Brilliant at times and thick as a brick at other times. We’ve all worked with people like that. Just got to learn what works to get things done. ![]()
I keep a ROBOTS.md file that contains everything the AI agent should know about the app it’s working on. Module/file structure and connections. Design direction and rules like stop creating shell scripts randomly and stop generating 30 console logs every time you get stuck, etc. Every new chat I start begins with ‘please read ROBOTS.md… when done making changes please update ROBOTS.md’.
Yes i create a dev log, but it forgets after a few fixes or ■■■■ ups, Cursor has the memory span of a goldfish. If they fixed this issue then they will have a half decent program. Instead I don’t know what they do as i never see any improvements, all the bigger issues are still there. Like crashing after the app chat gets full. I can barely type a sentence without it crashing by this time, and the other issue is the lack of following set routines for example, you mention you have to tell it to follow robots.md. I do the same, Suggestion, how about the software forces the AI to follow set rules without having to tell it every time. In the settings, there is something like this but, I have no idea what its supposed to do or how to set it up, can someone explain. if there is a system already in cursor that allows for this very setup. And the last Huge issue, it does around in circles when it cant figure out what to do or has trouble. Anyone have any ideas around this? And a bug in the most recent version makes it repeat the code over an over. No idea why it does this, its just random.
As for this new summary addition as the text box gets too large. seems to be too late most of the time as it already starts to crash before we see this message. When it does pop up its good and solves the problem, but its so hit and miss. dev’s maybe you can reduce the time it takes before this kicks in. I find myself having to ask it to summarise all the work, but by the time we start the next chat, we are already creating so many mistakes, its then its going in to crash territory again, i don’t know why this does it.
