Gemini 2.5 and 4o got heavily nerfed

I’m not sure what to say at this point. Everything was amazing when Gemini 2.5 was added. It worked so well.

Well I wake up today to find that Gemini got nerfed (probably rate limited super hard) and made it practically unusable and gpt-4o is super scuffed (it was very capable, probably had the temperature changed). Why is it that every time you get something good it gets taken away.

We’ve hit a rate limit with gemini-openai. Please switch to the ‘auto-select’ model, another model, or try again in a few moments.

Pro users are supposed to have access to slow pool after using all fast requests but most don’t work and Cursor is advertising way more than what we are getting. This is unacceptable.

I would rather pay more for a good reliable product than pay for something that breaks every other day or gets changed.

The pricing on Gemini gemini is absurd. It’s a fraction of the cost of Claude of even 4o.

Hey, I totally get the frustration with the rate limits, though. We’re working on improving the reliability of the Gemini models, but they have been very popular since release! The rate limits are temporary while we sort out some backend infrastructure, but I understand it’s not ideal when you’re trying to get work done

For now, auto-select should help route you to the best premium model if you don’t care which model executes your requests. You can also try manually switching between models if you hit a limit.

Regarding the slow pool, it is still accessible to you, but if we have reached our global capacity for Gemini 2.5, that means there is no available compute for you, regardless of wether the request is fast or slow.

I understand you guys are dealing with trial abusers/bots but as someone who wants to continue using Gemini to build my project, I agree with the OP where I would rather pay a PREMIUM(like the pay as you go model) than a $20 monthly access fee for every model so I can be able to use what I want when I want.

Hoping you guys can have it figured out soon, it’s sad that paying customers are losing access due to people abusing the system.

I too got multiple such errors:
request ID: ■■■190c0-4b61-4e7e-8400-35afd4c15b3a

Can you look into this timeout error repeatedly:
■■■190c0-4b61-4e7e-8400-35afd4c15b3a

Just as an update, Google had some issues on their end which should be resolved now!
