The /Generate Cursor Rules command that existed in v0.49 is missing in Cursor 2.0
Steps to Reproduce
- Open Cursor 2.0
- Press
/ in chat
- The command is not available
Expected Behavior
The command should be available.
Operating System
MacOS
Current Cursor Version (Menu β About Cursor β Copy)
Version: 2.0.69
VSCode Version: 1.99.3
Commit: 63fcac100bd5d5749f2a98aa47d65f6eca61db30
Does this stop you from using Cursor
No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. The /Generate Cursor Rules command was indeed removed in Cursor 2.0.
For now, you can create rules like this:
- Through the Command Palette:
Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+P β βNew Cursor Ruleβ
- In settings: Cursor Settings β Rules β create a new rule
- Ask the Agent: according to the docs, you can ask the Agent in chat to create a rule

It would be helpful if this change could be documented in the 2.0 release notes or official documentation.
