I can not believe how incredible this really is. For the people who don’t know, I’m sorry. I hope that the UBI covers your netflix bills. For the rest of you legends, keep building and shipping. Leverage this thing to the max and I wish you luck!

I suppose gpt-5-high is the thinking/pro model?

Currently using it now for testing. Is it better than claude 4 sonnet reasoning or nah?

I can’t figure out how much is free, and when does it start costing me money?

About one week will be included. We will announce when the GPT-5 launch period finishes.

Anyone know the difference between GPT-5, GPT-5-high, GPT-5-low, GPT-5-high-fast?

@traderSA :

  • gpt-5 and gpt-5-fast are a great starting point - they are medium reasoning, and the fast one is a faster but pricier variant.
  • low and high are for lower and higher amounts of reasoning, respectively.
  • mini and nano are smaller models; generally not good models to use while coding in Cursor, but some great uses cases will likely emerge in the wild.

We may filter out some of these less-popular combinations or varieties over time but these are the ones we have available at launch

if it’s supposed to be free and does not count towards api cost, why is it showing up api usage cost and counting towards the total?

So this week, I’m not limited? Take advantage of it as much as possible?

MAX free too?

Same here, they said it’s free, but it’s still counting towards my API cost. It’s always like this with the Cursor team: they use vague wording and never explain things clearly. This is exactly what happened before, and they ended up having to refund people simply because of a lack of clear communication.

That’s not true, now you can see at the bottom exactly how much it cost you and how much you have left, it’s never been more transparent

I will put a ■■■■■■■■ test to GPT5 background agent mode, a restructure task of documentation which is very complex and numerous tries with Claude Sonnet / Opus 4 runs failed over and over again.

I also assumed based on the wording that gpt5 would be completely free to use for a week for paying users. But it seems it is counting towards costs?

Look at the cost to you column on the far right
