I found a current work around for this.
The fix is to have your bot save and send through Gmail directly with an app password:
- Make sure 2-Step Verification is on for your work Google account.
- Open Google App Passwords while signed in as your work email, create one named “Grok Bot”, and copy the 16-character code.
- Paste the text below into your bot as one message.
- When the bot asks for the app password, paste it into the secure box it shows you, not into the chat.
- Have it send you a test email with a link and click it to confirm it opens directly with no Google redirect page.
In the text below, replace YOUR WORK EMAIL with your address and YOURNAME with your first name:
The Gmail connector rewrites every link in my drafts and sent emails into a google redirect, so links break or show a “click again” page. Please fix it this way and save these as permanent rules:
1. Ask me for my Gmail app password with a secure secret request and save it as GMAIL_APP_PW_YOURNAME. Always keep it out of the chat and never print it.
2. Write a small Python script on your computer that logs in to my work Gmail (YOUR WORK EMAIL) with that app password. It saves drafts over IMAP and sends over SMTP.
3. Always use that script instead of the Gmail connector to save or send any email with links. Keep using the connector for reading and searching.
4. Always write emails as HTML with every link in short bold anchor text, and always add In-Reply-To and References headers when replying so the email stays in the thread.
5. After saving or sending, always read the message back and confirm no link contains google.com/url.
When it’s set up, send me a test email with a link so I can check that it opens directly.
