Grok Bot’s computer screen won’t load (Can’t reach / Couldn’t refresh / Waking up)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Hi, I’m having trouble with Grok Bot’s computer screen. On both my phone and desktop app it shows errors like “Can’t reach Grok Bot’s screen,” “Couldn’t refresh,” or gets stuck on “Waking up…”. I’ve already tried Update Bot’s Computer and it still doesn’t work. Can you help fix this?
Thanks,
Pratham

Steps to Reproduce

Open Grok Bot on desktop (and also tried on iPhone).
Open this bot’s chat and try to view Grok Bot’s computer / screen.
The screen stays on “Waking up…”, then shows “Couldn’t refresh” or “Can’t reach Grok Bot’s screen.”
Used Update Bot’s Computer / reset. Same errors still appear on both phone and desktop.

Expected Behavior

Grok Bot’s computer screen should load so I can see and use the bot’s desktop/browser. Right now it never connects.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Version Information

Grok Bot - 0.75.8

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hi @Pratham_Mangla, your bot’s computer is running fine on our side. The problem is that your network’s DNS can’t look up the address the app uses to reach the computer’s screen, so updating or resetting the computer won’t change anything. This is a known issue the team is tracking with some providers’ DNS, and I’ve added your report to it.

Switching to a public DNS should bring the screen back:

  1. Windows 11: Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi (or Ethernet) → Hardware properties → next to DNS server assignment click Edit → Manual → turn on IPv4, set Preferred DNS to 1.1.1.1 and Alternate DNS to 1.0.0.1 → Save.
  2. Open Command Prompt and run ipconfig /flushdns.
  3. Fully quit Grok Bot and reopen it.

On iPhone over Wi-Fi: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap (i) next to your network → Configure DNS → Manual, and add the same two addresses. On mobile data, iOS doesn’t let you change DNS directly, so a DNS app such as Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 works for that.
