Grok-Code-Fast-1 Data Retention/Training Policy (Free Period)

Hi everyone,
What are the data retention and model training policies for Grok Code within Cursor during its free period?

My Cursor is set to Privacy Mode (Legacy).

Data Use & Privacy Overview states:
”If you are on “Privacy Mode (Legacy)”: zero data retention will be enabled, and none of your code will ever be stored or trained on by us or any third-party.”

Security (Privacy mode guarantee) states:
”We take the privacy mode guarantee very seriously. More than 50% of all Cursor users have privacy mode enabled.

Each request to our server includes an ‘x-ghost-mode’ header, containing a boolean value denoting if the user is on privacy mode. To prevent accidentally treating a privacy mode user as a non-privacy mode user, we always default to assuming that a user is on privacy mode if the header is missing.”

This topic became a concern when I noticed the disclaimer of another IDE provider:

All our models are hosted in the US. Our providers follow a zero-retention policy and do not use your data for model training, with the following exceptions:
Grok Code Fast 1: During its free period, collected data may be used to improve Grok Code.

Since Cursor has no such carve-out that I could find, I would appreciate more clarity on this.

Does the Privacy Mode (Legacy) Zero Data Retention Guarantee apply to Grok Code Fast 1 during its free period?

Thanks!

Why is this ignored?
It’s a very clear, simple question to answer.

The forum is not active enough that these kind of questions should be left unanswered,
and Cursor is not some smalltime startup that can’t afford proper forum engagement with their active community.

Seeing this, I can only assume the answer is:
Grok-Code-Fast-1 can override the users privacy policy and is freely collecting user data to train and improve their models, but we’d rather not openly make that statement and will simply avoid giving any answers.”.

So what is it?

This is a very, very active community @Kroka, and some threads don’t get responded to! We do our best.

Privacy mode is privacy mode, doesn’t matter the model.
