Describe the Bug
I’ve been experiencing an issue for the past few days where I can rarely use OpenAI models. This problem seems to occur only with OpenAI—other models like Gemini and Claude work perfectly fine. And yes I ran network diagnostics and everything was fine.
Steps to Reproduce
Just prompt it with an OpenAI model

Does this stop you from using Cursor
No - Cursor works, but with this issue
Hey, is this also happening in new chats? Have you tried without any context in the chat? Maybe the folder has too many files, also try checking in another project.
Yes, I’ve tried it in completely new chats and even in different projects with very few files. Interestingly, it works perfectly on my Windows setup. I also installed it on my new work laptop (also running Windows), and it works fine there too. The issue only seems to happen on my Linux (Ubuntu) machine, and I’m not sure why especially since it’s only with OpenAI that’s causing problems. It’s getting a bit annoying. Do you think I should try reinstalling Cursor? I’m just hesitant because I don’t want to lose the chats I had on Linux.
I think reinstalling might help since this is pretty strange behavior.
It got fixed after the last update, but I have another question. I’m a continuing Computer Science student in the UK, and I tried to apply for a Cursor student account. However, it said my email was invalid because it doesn’t end with “.edu”.
The thing is, UK university emails typically end with “.ac.uk”. What’s even more confusing is that the Cursor website specifically states that UK university students are eligible. If so is there another way of proving my student status such as emailing from my uni account or emailing my enrollment documents maybe??
