What should I do when the cursor assistant gets stuck, stops responding, and just sits there thinking or planning its next move?

Hey, thanks for the report. It looks like the freeze happens most often in very long chats. When the chat state gets large, the server turn finishes, but the client stays stuck on “Planning next moves”. Here’s what helps:

  1. Click Stop and send your message again.
  2. If one specific chat keeps freezing, start a new chat. Long chats are the main trigger. You can summarize the old chat or refer to it in the new one.
  3. If the whole app freezes, use Reload Window: Ctrl+Shift+P then type “Reload Window”.
  4. Keep Cursor updated to the latest version.
