In my opinion, what made the old pricing so good was not the 500 requests It was the slow queue.

The company doesn’t send email notifications about pricing updates, forcing users to actively monitor the forum or blog multiple times per month to stay current and avoid unexpected billing changes.
I’ve never received any communication from Cursor regarding pricing changes. However, when I began the upgrade process but abandoned it, I immediately received an email saying “We noticed you started the process to upgrade to Cursor Pro but didn’t complete it.”
This demonstrates they clearly possess both the technical capability and email infrastructure to communicate transparently with users, yet they deliberately choose not to inform customers about pricing changes. This appears to be an intentional strategy, as they likely understand that most users will only discover the changes after they’ve already been charged for another month.
Unfortunately, the fact that updates are only in the forum on many topics! is a reality I’ve encountered. In my opinion, that’s the symptom, not the disease. The bigger problem there is their public relations system, which ranges from poor to nonexistent. I’m waiting for them to get their act together.

As a finance student from China, I rely on Cursor to build quantitative trading systems. On July 2, 2025, I subscribed to the Basic Plan ($40/2 seats). At that time, the policy allowed inviting multiple collaborators freely (no extra charges). I devoted myself to research and didn’t notice Cursor’s stealth policy change until today:
$300 Forcibly Charged (≈¥2500) → My entire Alipay balance (student living expenses) was emptied without warning.
Team Disbanded Over $40 Error → Added onezero-usage member. Instead of blocking the action due to insufficient seats/funds, Cursor immediately terminated my account!
Steps to Reproduce
July 2025:

Subscribed to Basic Plan (2 seats).
•
Invited 3 classmates to co-develop trading models → No extra fees charged.
Sept 2025 (Undisclosed Policy Change):
•
Added 1 new member today → Account charged $40 instantly (no approval prompt).
•
New member: 0 requests, 0 usage (Proof Attached).
•
Result: Full team disbandment & subscription cancelation.
Impact
•
I lost 3 months of quant research data.
•
¥2500 = 4 months’ food budget for Chinese students. This violates Cursor’s claimed mission of “democratizing coding access.”

Refund $300 for undisclosed policy change damages.
