It is getting annoying seeing cursor make multiple edits like 10 and more for example in the same exact file making it very difficult to track overall diff of changes made
how do we make cursor make same changes in the same dam n file so we can see all diff of the changes made to the file ?
as soon as i see it making multiple changes to the same file i know it is almost over for my codebase because as we all know these models will make changes you did not ask for changing text, comments and variable names no one asked them to do, so ability to clearly see changes is very important this this dumb models
0.49 has a setting for that in Features called Auto Group Changes, so at the end of the edits it gives you a summary of changes in the file, and explains which ones did what. you can approve in any order one by one change or each set of changes it lists.
You could tell AI to do only ONE change on the file, thats likely to work but cost you more requests to get things done.
Choose the right AI for the task, some are trying too hard and having too good imagination. You could also tell the AI not to make changes you didnt ask for.
Dont choose a too smart or a too dumb model. The best models are not the best, you have to pick the right model for the task. if only AI could do that.
