How many cursor rules can I have in my .cursorrules file?

I’ve built out a .cursorrules that gives instructs on general guidelines for my typescript/nextjs but it’s specific to typescript/react/javascript standards.

What about adding rules for my actual application? Like requirements, general synopsis, etc. Do i just add them as more bullet points as additional subsections or do I create a new rule called “You are an expert in x functionality…”

Hey, you shouldn’t lump everything together. It’s better to separate rules for Cursor. If you have many different tasks in one project, it’s better to use Notepads for this and add them to the context when necessary.
