I’m experiencing an issue with the latest Cursor update(2.6.14) where the Diff Review UI (the one with green highlights for additions, red highlights for deletions, and “Cancel/Keep” options) no longer appears after the AI makes changes. It seems the changes are being applied automatically without any opportunity for manual review.
Current Situation:
When the AI (Agent) modifies code, the changes are directly written into the file.
There is no green/red diff highlighting, and no “Cancel” or “Keep” buttons.

After my attempts, I reactivated this feature, which is: cursor settings>>agent>>Inline Diffs. I completely uninstalled cursor and reinstalled it (deleting all configurations), and then found that this feature was turned off. When I opened it, I could see the original review interface.
Actually, after upgrading directly to the latest version, I checked this setting and it was turned on, but it didn’t work. You can try turning it off and then on to see if it works. If it doesn’t work, I suggest reinstalling like I did
Yesterday my approach was indeed successful, but today when I restarted my computer, the review view disappeared again, which is very disappointing. I saw a method from other posts: uninstall the new version of cursor and then install the 2.4 version of cursor. Currently, this method works, and I hope it won’t have the same problem as yesterday. If you don’t have any other methods, you can try the following. (If it doesn’t work, you can delete all settings and reinstall. I just used version 2.4 to overwrite the new version, but it didn’t work and there were problems. I had to uninstall and reinstall it again for it to work.)
Thanks for the suggestion.
I already tested Cursor 2.4, and unfortunately the same problem happened again. So I don’t think downgrading is a reliable fix, because the issue seems to return after restarting the computer.
I’m now removing all add-ons/extensions and trying a completely clean reinstall, but until now there is still no real solution or official explanation from the developers.
At the moment, everything points to this being only a temporary workaround rather than a permanent
Thanks for chiming in, everyone. We’re aware of this and investigating.
A couple quick notes:
Double-check the setting
Cursor Settings → Agents → Applying Changes → Inline Diffs. Updates can sometimes reset it. If it was off, turn it on and fully quit + reopen Cursor (not just Reload Window).
If it’s already on
We’ve seen cases where the inline diff review UI still doesn’t appear even with the setting enabled. That’s a known bug; reinstalls/downgrades don’t reliably fix it.
Appreciate you outlining what you tried, it helps. No ETA yet, but this is an area our team is aware of and actively iterating on.
Hi Mohit,
Thanks for the reply. I already verified that Inline Diffs is enabled, and I fully quit and reopened Cursor, but the review UI is still missing.
I also tested reinstalling, downgrading to 2.4, and removing all extensions/add-ons. None of these reliably fixed it, and the problem returns again after a restart.
At this stage, it looks like this is clearly not a user-side configuration issue. I appreciate the confirmation that this is a known bug, but it’s quite disruptive to the workflow. Please share any temporary workaround or debugging steps if available, since there is currently no reliable fix.
Thank you for the thorough testing. You’re right that this doesn’t appear to be a configuration issue on your end. The behavior you’re seeing (inline diffs not appearing even with the setting enabled, including after reinstalls and across versions) matches a known bug our engineering team is currently tracking.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a reliable workaround that will make inline diffs appear consistently right now. In the meantime, you can still review all agent changes through the review panel. When the agent makes edits, open the file list or click Review in the chat to see exactly what was modified. It won’t display the inline green/red highlights in the editor, but it will still let you inspect and accept or reject each change.
We don’t have an ETA for a permanent fix yet, but this is an area the team is actively working on improving.
Same for me it has been so annoying that I do not get the explicit review of the files with highlighted changes which was one of the pros of using Cursor compared to other Vendors.
Now you have made it even harder to review and pushing towards accept All default style which is not good. please take a look into it and let us know what can be done here.
