I accidentally deleted an important chat in Cursor — how can I recover it?

I accidentally deleted a very important conversation in Cursor, and I can’t find any way to recover it.
Is there any method to restore deleted conversations?

Also, why doesn’t Cursor have a backup system or at least a confirmation before deletion?
These conversations are an essential part of the workflow in programming projects, and losing them can cause a major loss in project context.

Hey, thanks for the report. I’m sorry you lost that conversation. Unfortunately, deleted chats can’t be restored. The history is stored locally, and deletion is permanent.

For the future, you can export important chats to markdown for backup: Export | Cursor Docs

Regarding deletion confirmation, that’s a great idea. There’s no confirmation dialog right now. We’ll consider it.

I did the same. The delete button should at least give a warning if not be removed. Very destructive behavior without an undo or warning… we spend all this time (and some money) on chats and to accidentally hit “delete” instead of “Rename”. Pretty lame.

Please change this.
