I love the PLAN mode! It is awesome!

I have a Pro subscription and GPT-5-mini does not count towards my monthly usage. I mainly use Auto, Gpt-5-mini, Grok-code-fast-1, Gpt-5, claude 4.5 sonnet thinking. Gpt-5 is what I use for most complex prompts and only sonnet if its struggling. I use grok-code, mini, and Auto for anything that is straightforward. Grok-code is very fast, and gpt-5-mini is a bit slower. Both are good. Grok is free right now (temporarily), and gpt-5-mini, like I said, doesn’t count towards my subscription. Also I have grandfathered in unlimited Auto for like another 9 months for having an annual plan.

I also really like this new mode. I do find that it gets lost eventually. It would be good to add the plan doc some where like .cursor/plans. I am pretty sure I switched to markdown view and saved it but it is gone and the AI is struggling to understand what I mean when I ask it about the original plan doc. Needs a little deeper integration here I think. Really great feature though. Just needs some maturity help.

[Update:] It absolutely lost the plan. It couldn’t even output it to a markdown doc again. It tried but gave me only part of the plan, underdeveloped. Lucky for me I had copied the original in to a ticket, so I pasted it back over.

Found a fairly major bug. The agent, nor I, are able to edit the displayed to-do list. I tried asking it to throw away the doc and regenerate and it only recreated the content. The to-do list is totally wrong. It says it can edit it, but it just regenerated the main doc content over and over. The to-dos are not in the markdown file though.

I could not find any way to fix this so I ignored the plan mode and used the agent with the raw text pasted over.

I have issue with plan mode, when I switch with shift tab, the model I’ve set for each mode is not respected. It keeps the last used model. But it works if I change mode with my mouse by clicking different modes. Do you guys have this issue too ?

Plan mode is so awesome!!! Awesome work guys!
I think this was the big missing link/piece in vibe coding. Some times i and my team ended up going in circles trying to vibe code, though many times it worked. Planning before the actual work is so human and is underrated.
I feel like we have been using Cursor as an Intern in the past, but now the Intern is promoted to a full time Software Engineer/Mid Level Engineer

Question:
Is there a way to define some rules/standards to follow across any plan. For example,

  • I would like to create a github branch for the feature work/bug fix that is about to be worked for
  • Follow the standards and conventions (like cursor rules)
  • Write unit tests

I really like the mode, but can we improve it just one step further?
Check this part of the video, we need to be able to switch the model for plan execution!

Imagine you could use Claude 4.5 to plan and GLM-4.6/Grok code to implement tasks of this plan.

I haven’t tried GLM-4.6 or Grok for coding. I have always used Sonnet. Do you think GLM-4.6 or Grok is better than Sonnet 4.5 thinking or regular?

I love the planning mode! And yes, I tried to edit the plan manually too, since it seems to be possible. But I think the idea is that you ask modifications from the model if and when you need them before Build command. That is the only way it can study the code and plan details. Only very small thing I might change myself, like maybe color of button or something if it was mentioned there.

I’m super impressed by the plan mode, truly. It makes it much easier to make a structure for large, sweeping changes and then verify the implementation.

Oh, wait, what?

Thanks, Claude.

for me, it doesn’t work at all

Alibaba Qoder is also awsome, sure!

Com LM4.6 ficou maravilhoso

The plan mode is awesome but definitely needs some improvements!

I hit the exact issue - it never update TODOs in plan regardless I saved it to plan folder or not and not allow me to edit (after edits then revert my changes).

I workaround the issue by creating a master plan and progress file under my own folder not .cursor. So that I can ask it to pull plan from their - yes, need to switch to agent mode after it finished the plan mode somehow even there were still To-dos in plan…
