I was using my own memory bank system, and I’d created a kind of plan mode for myself. I was planning by typing /plan. Now it’s directly included in the cursor, but I don’t know how to use it effectively, or if I should clean up my rules file.

I think that with the new feature it would be better for you also because you would know how to use it very well given how you were already using the previous version.

There are free models? Which ones please

Well, this is good. Can you also add a visual version of it? Something that looks basically like a diagram of the app or an architectural design or something like this. Basically, a visualization of the app.

Thanks for the suggestion, we’ll consider it.

If you have a subscription: gpt-5-mini (unofficial), grok-code-fast-1 (temporary), code-supernova1-million (temporary)

Let me add some praise. It is awsome. I was kind of simulating it before by asking agent to give me plan first.
But obviously now it works magic. I am with cursor almost since beginning, this feels like major game changer. At least for my style.

What’s the difference to “make a plan, write to .md”?

I would assume the internal prompting of the agent will be much more focused on really collecting all the context, going through it, maybe some RL applied on the neural net. million things can be done inside the actaull workflow of the agent, which boost the results masively

Cursor really cooked the plan mode. It is very amazing. I have seen agent produce better quality code by following plan markdown. I think this is the best and most productive feature so far. Thank you!

@fusiondev You can ask AI to create Mermaid diagrams for you and use the Mermaid extension for display.

I’m so happy that I can edit the plan before executing it, but one thing that is really hard to edit is the todo list. I want to reorder it, but I can’t click and drag, and it seems like I am unable to delete a todo? Even though I specify the order in the plan, it still follows the todo list sequence and sometimes it’s in the wrong sequence.

Hi! I tried to edit a plan built with plan mode, but once I make a change, I can’t undo it and go back to a previous version (CTRL+Z doesn’t do anything). Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

What’s the optimal model to use here balancing quality and cost? Auto or specify something. And I see a comment earlier from @MidnightOak about it being “free” if you have a subscription can you clarify that - I have an openai api subscription but obviously that’s not free to use.
