Improve Button Placement in Chat History to Prevent Accidental Deletion

In the chat history panel, the Edit and Delete buttons for each conversation are placed very close to each other. This makes it easy to accidentally click “Delete” when intending to click “Edit” — especially when moving quickly.

This happened to me: I meant to rename a conversation but accidentally deleted it.

Suggestion:
Consider separating these buttons more clearly, adding a confirmation step for deletion, or redesigning the UI to reduce the risk of mistakes.

Thanks for looking into it!

I would prefer not to have a confirmation button to delete each chat, unless there is a delete all button as well somewhere. I delete a lot of chats and it already feels a bit tedious. But I could see a confirmation button being helpful, even if it was a second click on the same icon/button. Click once, it button goes red with text next to it reading “delete?” or something. Then click again to delete the chat.

hi @michalyashpe and thanks for your feature request. Cursor team is reviewing feature requests and will consider it.

@MidnightOak there is already a Clear All Chats button for such a use case.

@condor I believe that only clears the chats in the tabs, not in the history pane.

Ah good point, yes it clears current chat tabs. A chat history cleanup is a good feature request.

Hey, thanks for the feature request. We’ll consider how we can improve this.
