When I queue prompts, my choice was Medium efforts, but I noticed while editing one of the prompts, that it was automatically switched Extra high. I have been wondering why are my credits are getting drain faster, is that the reason? is it a setup issue? platform issue? Appreciate your support! I am considering to switch to an alternative more cost-efficient solution.

This is a known bug with the model effort picker. The effort level pill can display a different value than the one you selected due to a display race condition. So you’d pick Medium, but the pill might show Extra High instead.
To work around this for now, double-check the effort level shown in the model picker pill before submitting each prompt. If it shows the wrong level, toggle it a few times until it sticks on your intended choice.
Our team is actively working on a fix. If you update to the latest version of Cursor, some related fixes may already be included. Could you share your current Cursor version? (You can find it under Cursor > About Cursor or Cmd+Shift+P > “About”.) That’ll help us confirm whether the latest patches are in your build.
Regarding the credit drain: if the picker was switching you to Extra High without your intent, that would use more expensive model calls. Once the display bug is fixed, your credits should align better with the effort level you actually choose.
