Is there a way to opt out of summarization, or be notified when our chat is going to be summarized?

I am stopping what I am doing, with deadlines to come report this.

This summarization idea that Cursor is doing behind the scenes, is one of those “good ideas” that isn’t good. I would actually say, its unethical. (its not working for me anymore, its doing something else, I didn’t ask it to do, nor am i party to modifying that behavior). (I wonder, what are the exact api prompt/messages that are going back and forth, why isn’t this transparent to the user?)

It is constantly causing wide sweeping problems in codebases, where all of a sudden an AI agent goes rouge, forgets everything it was doing, and murders the codebase. (thank god I don’t have run tools automatically, which i would love to do). It comes absolutely without warning. Its not incremental, its all at once, BAM.

Is there a way to opt out of this functionality, or at least notify me when its about to happen OR when it JUST happened?

This is definitely a leave cursor kind of problem. I’m actively seeking other abilities to agentify development, which is sad, because this tool is game changing. But if its going to be used against me, I have to pass.

Thanks,
Mike

PS. To double the annoyance, I’m working on something that requires youtube urls, and it is modifying the url to instead of using my test one, its going to Rick roll. Yeah, seriously this tool is rick rolling me.

+1 sometimes I need the context I’ve stored in that conversation. if i needed to clean the context window I could start a new chat.
