Just as an example, it just took an hour to get into a menu, select export chat, give it a file name and get the output. There were no active prompts. Cursor should have been in an idle state, but it had the laptop disk completely locked up. I’d also wonder if there are issues with squashfs and and use of virtual memory.
regarding the resources and speed, it runs fine on my end.
The graph includes 4 docker containers and a browser playing youtube and cursor running + other stuff which machine does.
Yes its not an issue for everyone, but those affected have a hard time. Harder than necessary, based on my personal dev experience of 3 decades.
To those with issues, please file detailed bug reports because general negative statements do not help anybody.
Yes its upsetting when there are issues, but only detailed feedback is helping resolve them faster or at all for those affected.
Negative general statements and posts without details are upsetting to many in the forum, so much in a fact that many forum members are asking for some automated handling/grouping/… moderation of such posts.
While that is also not solving any issue, there are clear steps forward in the forum.
Previously generic bug report template was expanded to more detailed bug reports, and from reviewing and handling several such reports I can say that this is definitely preferred as otherwise the most common reply I had to make on bug reports was the need of information.
A point that is regularly made in the forum, release x is bad and it must be systemic issue, is inaccurate and misleading all readers as issues are often based on unique circumstances. In fact they make the experience for all really terrible. Bad for users, because bugs can’t get fixed without info, bad for forum members due to toxicity and infectious negative sentiment, bad for everyone.
There is no such thing as error free software or services, but its not like Cursor doesnt work either. We all have to contribute our part to resolving issues.
Please help other forum members, do not mislead them. Issues need to be reported proplery and solved.
I have experienced issues as well, when the machine was struggling a lot. Part of the problem was caused by the graphic card and its drivers. When Cursor run on a screen which is rendered by the GPU, it became obvious that Cursor was pulling every strength out of the machine. The issues got resolved with better cooling, (I got one of these stands with builtin fan), and upgrading the graphic card driver to latest version.
My machine is from 21 so it is not the newest, but still modest.
I once wrote a post about slow machines can cause down prioritization by LLM, just guess work, but I still believe that if the machine is not capable of handling whatever is happening the latency will trigger down prioritization to avoid degradation of service on the vendor’s side.
No vendor wants a bunch of idle connections or slow clients. I still don’t know how much is done by Cursor and how much is done by LLM, but still ….
Is there any update on the performance? basically you do 5 prompts and then it keeps freezing. even after a fresh restart with a new chat!
THIS IS REALLY ■■■■■■■ FRUSTRATING.
good idea, but how about the cursor team addresses this PROACTIVELY with a dedicated cursor-moderated thread, giving users the feeling that they are really after this. I mean I can start posting details about this issue in one of the 200+ threads (yes, this is what the forum search delivers) or just create the next thread but in NONE of them I got the feeling that someone as actually looking into this.
For @proteus-dev and anyone else seeing Window Not Responding

Please read my comment here, and reply in the linked thread - hopefully with the right information, we can get this fixed quickly!
Due to the range of issues in this thread, I will lock it for now, but please feel free to post a new post in Bug Reports with your specific issue, and @ me directly so I can jump in quicker!
