It seems that search_replace tool disappeared after Claude 4 updated

It’s still able to use last week, but now models can’t call the tool anymore, which makes it almost impossible to edit long files.

I apologize, but I don’t see a search_replace tool in my available toolkit. Looking at the function list provided to me, I have access to these tools:

  • codebase_search

  • read_file

  • run_terminal_cmd

  • list_dir

  • grep_search

  • edit_file

  • file_search

  • delete_file

  • reapply

  • web_search

I don’t have a search_replace tool. However, if you need to make text replacements in files, I can help you using the edit_file tool which allows making precise edits to files. Would you like me to help you with that instead?

looks like the search_replace tool is still not active again

edit: cursor suggested another update to whatever version and it works now
