KIRO by AWS Cursor Killer?

i think due to its reliance on other llms, it will fall off entirely if they do not develop their own that matches up.

If AWS do the smart thing, they will structure kiro to easily integrate with their services to make deployments even more of a breeze with some smart automations. Give it points if it auto configures the environment based on the best and most secure practices.

I give cursor a year before they go bust. Their lack of support and apparant need to screw their customers for every penny will be their downfall.

I’ve been playing with kiro and I rather like it and their auto complete, it’s much more subtle, sometimes better sometimes not as good as cursors. But it so far hasn’t slapped itself overtop of code I’m writing and esc actually sees it quiet down for a brief period.

With that and Claude code, and AWS propensity to communicate before trying to bend you over the table I’m tempted just hesitant on what happens between now and the editor going production.

why does pro user need to replicate this workflow if they don’t need it. If they need it, then Kiro win

Tried it and it’s ok. Be careful thou’, as the Claude they use thinks it is in January 2025.

That would be natural- but I do not expect them to do that- aws seems like a labyrinth for a reason.

Ive been using Kiro for about a week now. I can say that while it has some teething issues, the feature set and methodology is definitely a threat to Cursor. Github Copilot is a hot mess, I wont let it touch my code again, Cursor is third place, Claude Code is second, and right now Kiro is taking the main stage.

Primarily I’m deploying Terraform infrastructure on AWS at the moment. Kiro’s highly structured planning, task bulding, and execution modes mirror the process I had built using Cursor. Its working well, with a few hiccups that I’ve been able to work around and manage.

I suspect AWS has done considerable fine tuning using their knowledge base of best practices and various archectures. It doesnt hurt that the preview is free thus far.

From what I gather, there are many that are on the verge of cancelling. I’m one of them.

Yeah, Recently I started using cursor again after a well needed break from its stupidity. After 2 months off I came back here and after burning thru my allotment in 3 days, now getting stuck on Auto, I’m starting to realize this Cursor thing might not be the product for me! Unfortunately it’s limitation isn’t my lack of knowledge driving it, it’s Cursor inability to give me anything actually useable!

Cursor’s new pricing model ruined what was a great tool. I definitely won’t be continuing with a subscription.

Still waiting on my Kiro invitation.
