LurkAPI MCP: public TikTok, Reddit, YouTube and ad library data inside Cursor

I built LurkAPI, a social media data API, and every endpoint is also a remote MCP server. This is how to add it to Cursor so the agent can read public posts, profiles, comments, transcripts and ad library results while you work.

Setup

The docs have an Add to Cursor button, or add it by hand to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "LurkAPI": {
      "url": "https://api.lurkapi.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor finds the server’s OAuth and asks you to sign in in the browser, with Google or an email code. There’s no key to paste. New accounts get 100 free credits, no card.

The server has one tool per endpoint (88, plus a free balance check). To keep Cursor’s tool list short, load only the platforms you need:

"url": "https://api.lurkapi.com/mcp?platforms=reddit,youtube,tiktok"

If you’d rather use an API key (Cloud Agents, CI), send it as a header instead of signing in:

"headers": { "x-api-key": "${env:LURKAPI_API_KEY}" }

Example

What running shoe ads are live on Facebook in the US right now? Group them by brand.

The agent calls facebook_search_ads with query="running shoes", country="US", status="active". Trimmed to one ad, the result looks like this:

{
  "searchResultsCount": 37660,
  "searchResults": [
    {
      "page_name": "HOKA",
      "is_active": true,
      "publisher_platform": ["FACEBOOK", "INSTAGRAM"],
      "start_date": 1775026800,
      "snapshot": {
        "title": "FLY HUMAN FLY™",
        "body": { "text": "The legs give out. The heart doesn’t. Together We Fly Higher." },
        "cta_text": "Learn more",
        "display_format": "IMAGE"
      }
    }
  ],
  "cursor": "AQHTNrjEvTw_VUW75_..."
}

searchResultsCount is Facebook’s estimate of matching ads; the first page has up to 30, and the agent passes cursor back for more. Results leave out empty fields and keep one URL per image, to save tokens.

The same works for a TikTok profile (tiktok_profile), a YouTube video’s transcript (youtube_transcript), a Reddit search (reddit_search), or a brand’s ads in Google’s Ads Transparency Center.

Most calls cost 1 credit; packs start at $9 for 10,000 credits and never expire. It reads public data only and can’t post, like or message anyone.
