Mdc rule file are not being included even when manually attached

Describe the Bug

Agent can’t read mdc rule files attached manually to the chat.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Attach any mdc rule file @… or by clicking +
2. Ask it to follow the rules in the file, or ask what it sees.
3. Observe agents actions - will start searching for the files, grepping etc.
4. Will not find anything and will resort to doing something entirely different.

Expected Behavior

Agent should see the attached content of the rules files and follow it.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

I tried multiple. Question, if my .cursor directory is gitignored, does the agent have access to it?

You “Ask Cursor” bot says so, but that was not the case a while ago… I was able to use the rules in the gitignored directory… So I’m confused. Would like your confirmation on this.
