Message sent in new chat reverts to pre-send state with no response

Describe the Bug

When I start a new chat in Cursor and send my first message, the editor shows the message as sent but then reverts back to the pre-send state, as if the message was never sent. No response is received, and the cursor remains unchanged.

Steps to Reproduce

This issue occurs every time I send a message, so I cannot use the chat feature at all.

Hey, thanks for the report. You might have a large file open in a tab, and even if it’s not in context, the chat can still see it and this might cause an error. Try closing all open file tabs, creating a new chat, and trying again. Also check the DevTools console for any errors.

This is similar to macOS: Chat won’t send + “Default mode” empty — regression after 1.7.12 Cursor is unusable.
