I keep seeing this error in the composer chat, I’ve started multiple new chats but keeps happening, I’ve tried changing between gpt-4o and sonnet with the same result. I’m only referencing a single file which is 17 lines, even on the first message I get hit with it. I still have 173 premium requests left for the month. Currently running version: 0.44.11.
Your message is too long. Please try again with a shorter message and fewer/smaller attached items
Did a complete reboot and it’s now messaging back however when attempting to make any changes to files it fails and gives up?
Hey, can you follow this guide and get us a request ID for when you recieve the message too long error: Troubleshooting / Request ID – Cursor
If that is now fixed, can you send a screenshot with an example of where the Composer fails to make any edits?
I had the same problem, and what also happened was I received a text from my credit card asking if I approved a charge. I didn’t notice the text at first, but after I hit confirm, the cursor started working again. There might be a hold on your payment.
Is this an error that the user is supposed to see? Seems like the agent should deal with it best effort

I started to get “Your message is too long. Please try again with a shorter message and fewer/smaller attached items.” for every request now. Please fix this.
also getting this error often, not able to give a reference id because it doesnt pass the first request or sends the data. VSCode with Copilot is able to handle the same request without any issues
