Multitask mode has no controls over the model

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Multitask mode has no controls over the model

Steps to Reproduce

Use multitask mode. Ask it to use a model. It may not use that model. There is no way to e.g., disable fast mode.

Expected Behavior

There need to be controls over the models used by multitask mode. I tried using it after upgrading to an ultra plan and it used fast mode and burned a bunch of included usage. I then tried to contact support and Sam told me that it wasn’t something in their control. This is completely unacceptable behavior from a company and I’m downgrading my plan.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

This is not a feature request. Multitask is completely unusable if you don’t have control over the model parameters.

Hey @albaatross, thanks for the feedback!

There is no single switch yet that pins Multitask workers to your chosen model or keeps them off Fast.

One thing that might help today in the desktop app: in Cursor Settings > Models, disable any model you never want a worker to pick (disabled models are dropped from the subagent list). Unfortunately, this does not let you get as fine-grained as turning off Fast mode.

The team is working on firmer controls over which models subagents can run.
