This is clearly a dumb question, but my autosaves are the only visible saves in my timeline right now and introduced a whole slew of new issues. I would like to ask how I can restore MY last save, NOT Cursor’s last autosave. It seems like it should be obvious (it should be starred in the timeline for sure), but it’s not, and I can’t find the file on my PC. Am I missing something really obvious?
Hi @tamar, could you elaborate on what you mean by autosave? Would be very helpful too if you attached a screenshot for clarification.
Oy I thought it was simple
In the timeline, I see this:
…because of the way the app is designed. However, these are automatic saves to I suppose recover from a system crash or whatever, except usually I only actually MANUALLY save something when it appears things are working.
I’m trying to access that specific file, but with these autosaves, I can’t find the file I physically saved, and sometimes Cursor gives me such bad advice that I have to go back 100 steps or more to my old file and start from where it’s not so messy.
Advice on where to find that? Or do I need to do some manual work to save it in notepad or something whenever I actually hit the manual Ctrl+S?
I’d suggest GIT to you, but do not take offense please: I find myself needing to use GIT properly more.
I don’t take offense - I’m new to git too… I do think Cursor should remember the manual saves though over autosaving files that are likely laden with errors.
