I’ve noticed that new chats in Cursor sometimes include context from previous conversations, even from other projects.
For example, after working in Project A, I may start a new chat in Project B, and Cursor will explicitly say things like “recently we talked about…” and refer to something from Project A.
This is confusing and seems unintended. A new chat, especially in a different project, shouldn’t automatically bring in context from previous projects.

No - Cursor works, but with this issue
The more details you provide, the easier it is for us to reproduce and fix the issue. Thanks!
Agents in Cursor have a tool that can search your past conversations and open the transcripts of earlier chats stored locally on your machine. That search spans all of your projects, not just the one that’s currently open. So when a new chat in Project B opens with a short or open-ended message, the agent may decide to look through your history, surface your Project A work, and respond with something like “recently we talked about…”
It’s only supposed to do this when it’s actually helpful, so pulling in an unrelated project is exactly the kind of thing we want to know about.
You can verify whether that’s what happened! The next time you see it:
Scroll to the top of the agent’s reply in that chat.
Check the steps listed above the response text. If they’re collapsed into a single row (e.g. “2 searches” or “3 files read”), click it to expand.
Look for a step labeled “Searched conversations”, or a “Read” step pointing to a file inside an agent-transcripts folder.
Also let us know whether this happened in the Agents Window or in the chat panel inside the editor.
