Not able to install Cursor v1.6.35 on Win 11

Describe the Bug

When running the installer CursorSetup-x64-1.6.35.exe, the setup gets stuck at the screen “Preparing to install”. I also noticed in task manager a “CursorSetup-x64-1.6.35.tmp” file is not responding. See screenshot.

Steps to Reproduce

Run the installer “CursorSetup-x64-1.6.35.exe” in Win 11 x64 arch.

Expected Behavior

Cursor should be installed.

Hey, thanks for the report. Please try running the installer as administrator (right‑click → “Run as administrator”). If that doesn’t help, follow these steps:

  1. Kill any CursorSetup processes in Task Manager
  2. Clear your temp folder (%temp%) of any Cursor‑related files
  3. Download a fresh installer from https://cursor.com
  4. Temporarily disable Windows Defender/antivirus during installation

Let me know if running as admin helps, that usually fixes most installer hangs on Windows 11.
