When I add files to use as context for my code Cursor does not seem to read it. Also when I attempt to copy and paste my code into the chat box it is stored above that chat which Cursor seems to not read either. Actually when the code is copied and pasted in it has a chance of working I would say a 20% chance of it actually working.
Steps to Reproduce
I was just using the chat function nothing special.
Expected Behavior
Its meant to read my code and using it as context for an improved output
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
I apologize if this is stupid of me but I couldn’t find the Menu and by god, I tried.
Anyway, I just updated it this morning its 1/7/2025 and the time is 1:14 pm EST. I hope that helps this should be the newest current version.
After some more testing I found that I happens after about 5 or more promts in the same chat. If I create a new chat it can read my current code again. Hope that helps you in some way.
I’m a new cursor user, and I think I’m hitting this bug; I can’t seem to figure out what files cursor can and can’t see, and it hallucinates them as well, leaving me very puzzled. It keeps telling me to list directory contents and paste it into the chat, and other weird things. Is there a place in the docs where it tells us what the cursor chats are supposed to be able to see?
