There are reports that OpenAI has agreed to acquire Windsurf.
Since Cursor uses the model from OpenAI, and considering competitive advantages, I am worried that OpenAI will support Windsurf, thereby putting Cursor at a disadvantage in competition.
Actually, I really like Cursor, and I am very afraid of this situation happening. But I can’t do anything about it.
If only OpenAI had models with a competitive price-to-performance ratio
More competition the better imo. If they bring out a better product, then Cursor needs to compete or least be better priced. Cursor wont lose access to OpenAI models, OpenAI is too money hungry to ever start blocking API services. It’s good you can’t do anything about it, we need more competition in this space, so having someone going around and taking out competition sounds like grounds for a monopoly and that always leads stagnation in quality/service or even degrading quality/service.
In fact this might cause more and more people to adopt AI coding clients/agents etc. Maybe leading to a new gold rush of companies entering into the space. That would actually be ideal atm. Theres already quite a few online only ones that I wish had local installation clients.

Code quality and tabs are much better than the competition, although sometimes things go wrong!
