OpenAI API Key forces all models through OpenAI endpoint

  • Current behavior: When setting an OpenAI API key, Cursor attempts to route all model requests (including Claude) through OpenAI’s endpoint

  • Expected behavior: OpenAI API key should only be used for OpenAI models, while other models should continue using Cursor’s default service

  • Version info: Cursor v0.50.5 (Universal)

  • System info: Darwin arm64 24.5.0
