Claude and Codex both collapse pasted text into a “[Pasted x lines]” and it really cleans up the UI + text box. Not sure if they handle the pasted context differently (like knowing that the main request is not in the pasted text and that the pasted text is mainly for context).
Would love if this worked in Cursor IDE agents. This works for pasting from inside Cursor IDE (files, terminal), but external source support would be awesome
Hi @jaden-fort Thanks for the post! You’re correct that we collapse multiple lines if pasted text come from inside the Cursor app (e.g. the terminal, or lines of code) but we don’t do the same for external sources.
People do have STRONG opinions on this topic, with some people loving the collapsing and others hating it. It’s a very polarizing topic. I’m interested to hear others weigh in!
